Week 26

Still feeling pretty good, but the waking up at night to go to the bathroom has started again. Then, they start kicking me and I can't fall back to sleep. It's hard to balance the hydration and bathroom needs! It's slowly getting more difficult to get up from a lying down position, especially on the couch (the bed doesn't seem to be a problem). I'd rather just sit, but I know it's good to take the pressure off and lie down after a day of sitting up and standing. I am definitely getting bigger, which is OK...now everyone knows I'm pregnant, not just chubby with lots of belly fat...ha ha!
Here's what's going on with the little ladies: The network of nerves in the girls' ears are better developed and more sensitive than before. They may now be able to hear voices! Thank goodness because David is singing to my belly nightly. He gets a "kick" out of feeling them move around. They are inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when they are born and takes that first gulp of air. And they are continuing to put on baby fat. They weigh about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (size of an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.
