First Haircuts -- 14 Months

The girls' hair was getting too long! Just in their eyes all the time! And, they pulled out their barrettes and hair ties immediately (while pulling out their hair too!). Evelyn's bangs were to her chin! She looked like a shaggy dog! So, much to my chagrin, I got their hair cut. We took them to cartoon cuts, which was a huge success. Evelyn sat still watching cartoons! I think it was the first time watching cartoons. Evelyn now sports a totally cute bob; Sylvia's hair is just a little shorter than before, but with bangs! [The after-shots were taken later at dinner, ignore the food on their faces.] What do you think?

Finally a Smiling Shot

Gram (the girls' maternal Grandmother) says Sylvia is pensive. She is not overly smily or a ham, like her sister. She's a thinker. She soaks it all in, even though he doesn't seem to be paying attention. The other day Sylvia and I were alone driving around and I started asking questions, what sound does a cow make, she replies mooo. She answered with the correct sound for dog, bird, duck, monkey, cow, cat. I know I'm missing a few. I was blown away.

Here is Sylvia, almost for the first time on camera, being a completely silly girl. She is often very silly, but if she knows she's being watched or photographed, you'll be hard-pressed to get it on film.

Good work to her Great Uncle Kirk (Gram's brother) for taking this picture over the 4th of July while at the cottage in Michigan visiting Great Granny and the rest of the family.

Trip to the Cottage

As you may recall, the blog was initiated on August 30, 2008 (my birthday), when I found out at "the cottage" I was pregnant. "The cottage" was built by the girls' maternal Great Granny and Grandad in 1967 in Pentwater Michigan on Bass Lake. I spent all my summers there as a kid. It's a pretty special place that holds amazing memories. My nearly 90 year old Granny lives there full time. My Uncle lives nearby on 28 acres where he's soon building his authentic log cabin.

We had to take the girls! It was a fun weekend over the 4th of July -- we swam a ton at our lake and Lake Michigan. The girls HATE sand!

Granny, Gram, Gramps, Great Uncle Kirk, and cousin Alexis were all there.

Spa Treatment

I received an email from Angela today with this picture entitled "Sylvia's Spa." The message read "Mulch is the new mud treatment. I guess. Who knew. She keeps rubbing it on her legs."

She's a crazy baby.

I've said it once, I'll say it a million times. The pictures and notes she sends us make our day. It's so nice to be in constant contact with the person caring for your children. Also, we've given Angela a new name for the girls "La La"...how cute is that? There's no way they will be able to say Angela and I guess other kids have called her La La. Love it.

14 Months

Trip to the Chesapeake Bay

Our friends Julia (Mom) and Wyatt (her son, 11 months) invited us to her parents house on the bay in Annapolis. The girls weren't having much fun in the bay so we retreated to the baby pool. As you can see, Wyatt was very proud of spending the afternoon with his two babes.

The girls love the water, especially in this heat. Sylvia loves to splash. Here she is just chilling....and looking very chubby.

This Sunday is David's 2nd Father's Day. He's such a proud, loving Daddy!

Everytime we take out their finger puppets, Sylva wants her own. She imitates what we do when we put on a show. It's super cute.

5th Tooth For Evelyn

Just 2 days after Sylvia sprouted her 5th tooth, Evelyn got another one too. This is her right upper second tooth.

Puzzles!

Sylvia loves to play with puzzles and quickly figured out how to put the round piece where it belongs. She also stacks rings like a pro.



As you can tell, there are many more videos with Sylvia because she actually sits still for a moment or two. Evelyn is way too busy walking around to be bothered with videos!

Sylvia Walking -- 13 months 11 days

At 13 months 11 days, Sylvia is pretty much walking, but just doesn't stand up without pulling herself up. I will update you when she starts doing that.

Tooth 5 for Sylvia

We discovered a new tooth! It's Sylvia's 5th and it's the left one next to the front tooth. It's totally in and we didn't even know she was teething! Yeah for Sylvia because the other ones were very hard for her.

Evelyn has 4 teeth, which is funny since she had teeth a few months before her sister.

Trip To Charleston

We went to Charleston, South Carolina over Memorial weekend. What an amazing trip. The girls were GREAT! I really can't believe how good they were. They kept to their schedule, slept 12 hours, ate tons, and still took 2 naps a day (mostly out and about!). They are such good girls! Mommy and Daddy even enjoyed two evenings out on the town while the hotel's sitter watched the girls. It was a very nice trip.

Evelyn Is Officially Walking

At 13 months 2 days, Evelyn Louise is officially walking. She has long ago mastered the art of walking across the room after pulling herself up to standing. Now, she is popping up from the middle of the room and walking across it! Video coming soon!

Evelyn's 4th Tooth

Well, the same day Sylvia got her 4th tooth, Evelyn's made an appearance. Her left upper is finally coming through. And, last night, it felt like we got the best night of sleep in months.

B Words

As I've mentioned before Sylvia has a thing for "B" words. Yesterday, I brought home a few bananas and repeated the word to Sylvia several times. She started out with "Ba" and then did a lalalala thing with her tongue. She's a smart girl. It was very cute.

Sylvia's 4th Tooth

Sylvia's fourth tooth made an appearance today. It's her left lower. Thankfully this one didn't make her suffer has much as the uppers.

Evelyn is working on her 4th tooth too, but hers is the left upper. It is definitely causing her some problems. I'm sure it will appear today or tomorrow.

Thankfully, they love to brush their teeth at night and often get upset when we take away the tooth brushes because it's time for bed.

It's funny how it took 11 months for Sylvia's first tooth to show up and now she has more teeth than Evelyn. It's like this with everything. One is ahead of the other, but not for long. They are constantly changing. It's so fun!

Trip to Old Mine Farm

We went on a trip today to a petting zoo with Angela, and our friends Wyatt and Julia. The girls loved this wagon (Angela says they are presenting it "Price Is Right" fashion) and all the animals. They had a blast on their hay ride too!

Water Table Fun

The girls' were given this very cool water and sand table by their Grandpapa and Grandmama Romley. They had so much fun and got sooo dirty!!! We invited our friends Wyatt and Mattie over to play too, then we ran around the house in our diapers! Afterwards, all soaking wet, they went swinging! These girls are loving life!

Last Infant Carseat Ride

While we switched our carseats out a while ago, Angela was still using the infant seats (they are good up to 22 lbs, we're not there yet!). Angela sent us this picture and wrote "Our last car ride ever in our baby infant seats. I told them that and Evelyn clapped. Guess she's ready for the real deal. " Too funny!

Most days Angela sends us pictures of the girls. It brightens our day to no end and we are so thankful for that! In fact, many of the pictures I post on the blog were taken by her and sent to us!

We Love to Swing

Evelyn and Sylvia love to swing. Now, Sylvia is getting really into slides! She actually pushes herself down! She's such a big girl.

Birthday Wagon

Gram got the girls a red Radio Flyer wagon for their birthday. It is decked out with a canopy and cup holders. We had to show it off to our friend Wyatt yesterday.

Another Tooth For Sylvia

Sylvia got another tooth! Her right lower. She now has three. She has her front uppers and right lower. She does not do very well while teething. She cries and cries. No sleep for Mommy and Daddy, and hard days for Angela. Not fun at all.

Evelyn has 3 teeth too, but she has her two lower and right upper.
